Thank you Mr. President   President Obama,  I would like to thank you for turning huge sections of the American public against you. As of today, according to 20 polling agencies your approval stands at 53%, your disapproval at  - 43%. I know most of the agencies are leftist and they inflate the figures in your favor and will always support you, as indeed do the American and the world mainstream media. I take it for granted the world left is behind you.   Mr. President, thank you for losing the support of 10% of the young Americans. More importantly, you wasted the support of at least of 20% of the independents, who are crucial element in any US election.   Thank you for behaving extremely un-presidential in your much touted speech on the health care reform. In it you called the legitimate concerns of your opponents “misinformation”, “false”, “demagoguery”, “distortion”, “tall tales”. You even referred to the arguments of your critics as “lies”. May I remind you that the President of the United States has to unite the American people, especially on a matter of life and death like the health care?   The result -  majority of the Americans now reject your health care plan. According to the latest Rasmussen poll, 65% of the doctors oppose your health reform, and 45% of the doctors will quit their practice if the bill is approved by the Congress. That’s why, I would like to thank you for being not a uniter, but a divider of the nation.   I would like to thank you for your cap-and-trade bill, the so called green legislation which  passed in the House, but thankfully (for now) stalled in the Senate. The bill will cripple the American economy, will shed millions of jobs and in the decade to come will cost each US household 1761 dollars according to a confidential memo of the Department of Treasury dated 9 March 2009. The legislation will levy new tax on all Americans, who use a light switch, an AC, kitchen stove, fridge and  a car. I realize you want to please your dear European and UN friends who adore the earth you tread on and the air you breath. Speaking of air, let me guess if your global warmist associates will levy a tax for breathing air on their hapless citizens? That’s just a guess in the bleak Al Gore-Merkel-Sarkozy-Brown-EU-UN future, nothing more.   You scrapped the Bush Administration defense shield over Poland and the Czech Republic. In open disregard you abrogated the agreements with both governments showing how little you care about Eastern Europe. Your move will be viewed as a major weakness of America by the Islamist world terror and the Iranian theocracy with unpredictable consequences. You did that knowing Iran launched in February 2009 satellite capable of carrying nuclear warheads. You did this on a day when according to a leak from IAEA, Iran is fast on the way of obtaining the bomb. It’s a great pity you don’t know that the US President should be tough and unrelenting on terrorists and terror regimes, not weak and appeasing. But the greatest impact will be in Moscow, now reeling with triumph. Your intention is to cheer up your new Kremlin presidential and prime-ministerial buddies, who are drunk with joy and elation. But let me disappoint you. The Russian foreign minister announced that the Bush defense shield was a mistake in the first place, that’s why Moscow would not reciprocate. So I have to thank for what you really are – Appeaser-in-Chief.   You appointed special prosecutor to investigate the interrogation methods used by the CIA with Islamist terrorists. You demoralized and discouraged the CIA agents from doing their job, which will affect disastrously the national security. You are not interested that waterboarding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Abu Zubaydah and others prevented the second wave of attacks against America after 9/11 and saved thousands of American lives. So what can I do, but to thank you for being soft on terror?   And last, but not least at all I would like to note you managed to unite the Republican party and the diverse American right, which were in tatters and in disarray after the rout of the last fall’s election. Conservatives, Libertarians, Paleo-Conservatives, Isolationists, the Christian right now clearly understand you are a leftist radical hell-bent to impose European-style socialism and big government on America. I really hope all of them will do everything in their power and within the law to stop you.   And for this last one – a big THANK YOU Mr. President!

Дали няма да вземат, преди да ги е сепнал махворлука, да върнат марксизма и Варшавския договор?

wrong, again. Those who still use their brains have not lost faith in The President. and 65% of doctors oppose the health reform? How surprising?
Except for some figures, nothing else is true.

I agree with pontis. Obama is a godsend, especially after Bush. I don't live in America, but I've always admired this great nation. Bush managed to change that in 8 years. America was slowly becoming an unbearably aggressive, militarized regime, which just about any country in the world hated and opposed. Even Americans started to feel that they were no longer that free (airport checks, surveillance of e-mails, phone calls, huge censorship - remember that story about the NY times journalist who got sent to prison for publishing "confidential" material?) Things are changing now, thanks to Obama, and this is definitely a good thing... well... a fantastic thing - both for America and the world!
As for the GOP, this party must seriously reconsider its current (lack of) principles and policies. Hell, what has happened with the republicans over the last 10 years? Think of Bush sr., Reagan... those guys were just as open-minded and democratic as Obama. Right now, all I see being brandished by republicans in the press is "hate, racially biased remarks, Obama is a socialist bla bla bla." And this AFTER the economy got crapped during the term of Bush Jr... what a coincidence, for chrissake.

kudos for Obama. He has the guts for painful reforms. I hope that he will cripple the Religious Right forever and will win a second term. :-)

6. анонимен - Thank you, Mr. Daskarev!

Thank you Mr.Daskarev for this wonderful essay. I share your concerns as, I am sure, do the majority of Americans. The tea parties and town hall meetings certainly do not get the media coverage they deserve here in the US, with the exception of the Fox News channel. They are the “vox populi”, the real voice of that huge America that does not live on the two coasts. This voice irritates the hell out of the Left because it is the one true guarantor of America’s future. Unfortunately the current administration will inflict long-lasting damages not only domestically, as witnessed by its foreign policy, summarized so accurately by you. Its effects, I fear, are already felt in Bulgaria. Eastern Europe has to take care of itself all alone. The Western part is largely silent.
“The cause of America is, in great measure, the cause of all mankind” – words of Thomas Paine in the introduction to his book of 1776, “Common Sense”. These words are still true, and will remain so for a long, long time.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see comments in English, written obviously by Bulgarians whom I commend for their command of the language, yet some – who are easy to identify - not for the quality of their thought. It reminded me of the old Georgian joke about the two guys fishing off a pier; the one falls in the water and begins to drown while shouting (in Russian) “Help, I am drowning”, and so until he disappears from sight. The other watches indifferently, lights a cigarette and mumbles to himself in Georgian: “Smart enough to learn Russian, but to swim – not“. The metaphor does not fit perfectly though it does an alright job. Pity, though, that rational thought is not language-specific.

Greetings to all,
Alameda
